I’m officially Dropped Off Page 1 of Google :(
Alright, so I haven't been blogging on NetPassiveIncome.com for a while, and bad things happen to me:
1. I lose readership - Everyday my inbox is filled with WordPress notification emails saying that I have new comments to moderate. But guess what, they are all spam comments! I used to love these emails, but now I hate them.
2. I lose search engine ranking - NetPassiveIncome.com used to rank in page 1 of Google for the keyword "passive income." Now, it got pushed over to page 2! Thanks to all the other passive income blogs - I hope you enjoy the free traffic you are getting, for now
3. I lose affiliate income - I've enjoyed the passive commission from the program Niche Profit Classroom that I recommend on this blog, up until last month (May, 2011) where I see a drop off in membership renewal. I could blame it on attrition rate, but the fact is that I'm not selling more memberships to it.
So, here is what I'm going to do about it:
1. Gain readership back -Pat Flynn's blog (currently ranked #2 in Google for "passive income") makes me jealous! Should I start to be more transparent in my sites and projects I have going on, as well as host challenges like the Niche Site Duel he recently went through? I want to open this up to all of you to see how I can best serve you.
2. Gain search engine ranking back - All I can say is, "Watch out fellow passive income bloggers, here I come!"
3. Gain affiliate income - The biggest mistake I made with NetPassiveIncome is not taking advantage of the momentum it's built up with traffic & readership (my list). I didn't seize the opportunity to grow while the going was good *shaking my head* May this be a lesson to you.
Also, I'll be making a few changes to NetPassiveIncome.com blog itself:
1. Overhaul the WordPress commenting system - I'm getting rid of all the spam comments in my WordPress database, and going to beef up the security so no spam comments is going to leak through. I've got literally 17,000+ comments waiting in moderation right now.
2. Add social media - I'll be adding some Facebook and Twitter stuff to the blog.
That's it for this post - no call to action or anything to sell at the end, just a status update on what's going to take place to this blog.
